Every month Praxis Arts hosts two traditionally styled figure drawing or painting sessions. Check the calendar on our website for the next session. $15 includes a spot, coffee, and some snacks. Ample free parking. Our models are primarily nude, are both female and male, and the sessions vary in pose length. Some easels and benches are provided but we encourage you to bring your own. We have a relaxed atmosphere and welcome artists from all levels. We are always looking for new models with all levels of experience.

In this class students will learn how to draw the human figure, using an easy step-by-step method, whether working from an art model, from photos, or from memory and knowledge. We'll start by sketching some figures based on simple, underlying shapes, then add in the details. Students will learn about proportions and foreshortening, motion and action, basic surface muscles, and how to use shading to make the figure look real and three-dimensional.
