• Instructed: Life Drawing. In this class students will increase their understanding of and comfort with rendering the human figure. It is assumed that all students have some prior drawing experience.
• Uninstructed: Working from Figure. This is an opportunity for artists to work on drawings or paintings in front of a live art model. Please bring your own drawing materials. Easels are available. Cost: $60 for a 4-session pass or $20/session drop-in. Call or check our website for dates and times.

Course offerings include a standalone figure drawng class as well as a series of courses leading to a Certificate in Figurative Studies, students are grounded in the fundamentals of anatomy, figure drawing and figure Sculpture. Electives in figure painting, color theory and large format painting offer the student the opportunity to proceed toward certificate completion in a more personally expressive approach.

Classical realism epitomizes this long running art studio in DC founded by academically trained artists. The studio has an exceptional atmosphere, small groups, and personal approach.There are several life model courses in drawing and painting: Tuesdays 6:00-9:00pm Figure Drawing; Sunday 10:00am-1:00pm Figure Drawing; Sunday 1:30-4:30pm Portrait Painting. The studio is equipped with easels, stools, etc. We practice long several session poses as well as gesture drawing. Anatomy, proportions, tonal modeling, movement, character are just a few topics covered. We hire figure models.

Life drawing. Monday 6:00-9:00pm. This is the perfect opportunity to practice your skills at your own pace in your choice of media, with access to a live nude model. Artists are required to bring their own drawing materials. Easels, chairs, and artistic ambiance are provided by Hillyer. 5 Week Bundle = Member $30/ Non-Member $35. Drop-in = Member $10/ Non-Member $12. Space is limited to 30 attendees. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available. Located just blocks from the Dupont Circle metro stop (Red line).

Artists meet on most Wednesdays 7:00-9:30pm and draw from a live art model. Short pose drawing sessions: 5 minutes to 20 minutes. $5. Bring your own materials. Drawing spots and easels are available on a first come first serve basis. Arrive any time after 6:45. The drawing begins promptly at 7:00. There is a modest model fee collected to pay our models. No reservations are required. Join the Google group for information on upcoming sessions. Cancellations will be sent out as soon as we know of scheduling issues. Street parking may be available on the south side of the church, please do not park in the church parking lot.
