Figure Drawing Fridays is a small, private figure drawing group, open to all artists of all stripes. We meet Friday nights, 6:30-9:30pm; doors open a 6:00 to set up. Space is limited. We have a few easels and a few drawing horses. The group is very open, accepting, and easy going with music, chit chat, snacks, and occasionally Emma the studio mutt. Our models are always nude and we have controlled lighting. The evening starts with gesture poses (2 and 5 minute) followed by a 10 and 20 minute poses, then either two 45-minute poses or sometimes a 90-minute pose.

• Non-Instructional: Open to artists or students at any skill level. The format is one traditional long pose per session with nearly 360 degree view of the model. Artists may set up a fixed station for the evening or move about (respectfully) to obtain different vantage points of the pose. Reservations recommended, not required.
• Instructional: Students will be introduced to several methods of measuring, including sight-size, as well as how to block in a figure and whittle the rough form into an accurate drawing. This 8-week course alternates between male and female models for the first four classes followed by a 4-week long pose with one model.

The Sharon Arts Center campus is a satellite of New Hampshire Institute of Art. Art classes include Figure Drawing. This course is an opportunity to engage in the practice of drawing the human figure in a variety of stances. Each class will begin with a series of quick warm-up poses, and then lead into longer periods, which may expand over multiple weeks. This is a perfect chance to experiment with a variety of media and mark-making techniques to capture observations from a range of art models in a casual environment.

• Pay-What-You-Can Figure Drawing: Open Studio with Model. Tuesdays 5:30-7:30pm. Great for artists with a tight schedule or wallet, the Coleman Center offers this studio session almost every Tuesday evening. No registration required. Just drop-in, contribute what you can and draw! Suggested fee: $8 per session.

Figure drawing sessions using nude models are held on most Wednesday evenings 6:00-8:30pm. Sessions start promptly at 6:00pm. Registration fee is $10 per session and may be paid in advance online (credit / debit card) at the above link. If paid in person at session exact change is appreciated (cash only). Limited to fifteen people per session. Stools are provided and a limited number of easels are available. Feel free to bring your own equipment. Pose length varies between gestural to 20 minutes. These sessions are co-sponsored by Mad Dog Artist Studios and the Rhode Island Art Educators Association; Mad Dog Artist Studio members and Rhode Island Art Educators Association members pay a reduced fee of $7 per session.
