The Center for Visual Artists hosts The Basics Figure Drawing Group each Thursday from 7:00-9:00pm. This class is a community centered artist meet-up offered as an incentive to our Exhibiting Artists Members (a $40 annual fee) with an additional nightly model fee of $7 paid to the Group Coordinator. Nude art models are both male and female. Pose lengths are agreed upon by the attendees each night. Easels and access to a sink are provided. All other materials are provided by the participants.

Instructed and Uninstructed
• Uninstructed: Life Drawing. Thursdays 7:00-9:00pm, except during holidays. Walk-in basis. Bring your own supplies (easels provided). Cost: $12 general, $10 Artspace members and students (ages 18 and up). Life Drawing is a non-instructional session that includes short gestures with several longer poses. We will take a hiatus during the summer (June-August).
• Uninstructed: Long Pose series (Fall and Spring) on Saturdays 10:30am-1:30pm. Pre-registration recommended, but walk-in basis also. Participants are encouraged to work in any media except photography. No noxious fumes.
• Instructed: Artspace offers figure painting workshops instructed by nationally-acclaimed artists. Workshops accommodate students of all levels. To be informed of the Figure Study schedule, join Artspace Figure Study email list.

Male and female, clothed or costumed models pose for dynamic 30 second gesture drawings, 1, 5, 10 and 20 minute poses during the 3 hour session with a break in the middle. Every Thursday night from 6:00-9:00pm this session is moderated for time by the facilitator. Easels, drawing tables, chairs, drawing boards, and pencils are provided and the students are welcome to bring everything they want, including clay. The fee is $8 and you may pre-register online.

This class is for students 18 years of age and up.

Matthews Artists Guild Life Drawing meets Wednesdays 7:00-9:00pm year round with a male or female nude model. We usually have variety of standing, sitting, and reclining poses: 2 minute poses x 5, 5 minute poses x 2, 20 minute poses x 3. We welcome all artists 18 years old or older. Chairs available, bring your own easel and supplies. Cost of model is split by artists attending (minimum of $4 to maximum of $10 per artist). Life Drawing. Saturdays 8:00-10:00am. $10. Open to members and non-members of all skill levels. Our classroom atmosphere is relaxed with no instruction. Most classes feature a live nude figure model, with costumed models on occasion. The class usually warms up with a set of 5-minute and 10-minute poses before beginning the 20-minute poses. The 20 minute poses are extended if the students are interested.

Life Drawing sessions are held on the third Tuesday of each month 7:00-9:00pm. Please RSVP — if we do not have at least five people committed to attend, we cancel the model. Please arrive early to set up your easel or chairs before the model begins working. We stay quiet during the posing time in order not to distract each other. Life Drawing is the best and quickest way to improve your drawing skills and your visual perception. Drawing from life is truly the basis for learning to draw anything well.
